First Holy Communion

Congratulations to our First Holy Communicants who had their big celebration on Saturday 12th May. We thank Ms. Lancaster and the School for the wonderful preparation and the ” Do This in Memory ” team for all  their hard work. Biggest thanks to their parents.

8th Amendment

1000 Medical Practitioners have stated the following, “As experienced practitioners and researchers in obstetrics and gynaecology we affirm that direct abortion – the purposeful destruction of the unborn child  – is not medically necessary to save the life of a woman . We confirm that the prohibition of abortion does not affect in any way the optimal care to pregnant women.”

Pope Benedict has stated  ” The fundamental human right, the presupposition  of every other right, is the right to life itself. Abortion consequently cannot be a human right.”

Pope Francis says ” among the vulnerable for whom the Church wishes to care with particular love and concern are  unborn children, the most defenseless and innocent among us. It is not “progressive” to try to resolve problems by eliminating a human life.”

Kilteel

St. Laurence O’ Toole Church , Kilteel has been greatly enhanced by the recently completed work on paths and entrance. It is now easily accessible  for the disabled.   A most useful  gathering spot for people attending ceremonies has been provided as well as a disabled parking area.  Congratulations to designer Marty Boran and  to Martin Hyland for doing the magnificent work which has transformed the area.

Sunday 13th May

Today is the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord ( moved from last Thursday ).  It is also World Communications Day. Pope Francis  in a statement for the day talks about  Fake News. This has to do with false information based on non-existent or distorted data meant to deceive and manipulate the reader. There is no such thing as harmless disinformation ; on the contrary ,  trusting in falsehood can have dire consequences.  We  believe that “The truth will make you free. ” ( Jn 8:32 )
