A Night of Song – The Baldonnel Singers and Friends” Sunday 10th April 2011
A wonderful evening of music and song was held in Eadestown Church on Sunday. It was the first visit of the Baldonnel Singers to Eadestown and they raised the roof!! They were joined by the Eadestown Church Choir, Eadestown Parish Children’s Choir, Paul Linehan (tenor), Muireann Ni Raghallaigh (violinist) and the Vltava String Quartet. The church was packed to capacity and the atmosphere was fantastic. The evening was compered by the very professional and entertaining Mike Higgins and everyone was invited to tea, cake and sandwiches afterwards provided by our usual fantastic team of tea ladies (and of course our reliable bakers). All proceeds from the evening will go towards providing a new sound system for the church. The evening was a great success and as one lady said – “It was the best value I ever got for ten euro -and I’m eighty three years of age!!!”
Parish Assembly Thursday 31st March 2011
A Parish Assembly was held in Kilteel Hall on Thursday 31st March 2011. There was a very good attendance on the night with about fifty parishioners present. The Meeting opened with a welcome and address from Tadhg Hassett, Chairperson of the Pastoral Council. He read the “Mission Statement” of the council and gave a brief outline of the initiatives taken since it started in November 2007. Having welcomed Eilis O’Malley as facilitator for the night, he handed over to Fr. Miceal Comer P.P. Fr. Miceal told people how glad he was to be in Eadestown and explained that he had been one of the team of co-ordinators that worked with Parish Development and Renewal for a number of years. The meeting proper then started with prayer on the theme of “dedicating ourselves to planning and building for the future of the parish”
The task for the night was to look at:
What are our needs now?
Our needs in the future?
What do we need to do as a parish to get there?
Can we put a time line in place?
Eilis explained that it would not be possible to put a timeline in place at this meeting but it was important to have the views so that a plan and time frame could be put in place by the new Pastoral Council.
In small groups people discussed the questions and then fed back to the meeting. Eilis will prepare a report on the meeting and the feedback. This will be followed up by the new Parish Pastoral Council.
